Staff and students at the DARE graduation

Fifth graders at Elm Creek, Fernbrook and Rice Lake elementary schools recently celebrated their graduation from the DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program. DARE is a drug abuse prevention education program intended to give elementary school children skills to resist peer pressure to use tobacco, drugs and alcohol.

District schools continued to commemorate November’s Native American Heritage Month before the Thanksgiving holiday with fun events and activities that highlighted some unique traditions of various Native American cultures.

American Indian Education department provides culture-based educational opportunities and programming

November is Native American Heritage Month, a time to celebrate the rich and diverse cultures and histories, as well as the essential contributions of Native people in the over 90 tribal nations represented in Osseo Area Schools. The dedicated staff members in the American Indian Education department work throughout the year to provide culture-based educational programming, both in and out of the classroom.

While the 2025-26 school year is still young, Osseo Area Schools is already making preparations for a smooth transition to new attendance boundaries at the elementary and middle school level for the fall of 2026.
